Laboratory Screed Testing & Analysis
Manchester Building and testing Laboratories offers a wide-ranging service of screed analysis from physical non destructive tests to chemical analysis of screed samples in our laboratories.
All tests are carried out with strict reference to the relevant British, European or ASTM standards.
Screed Density and Void contents
Regardless of the mix proportions of the screed compaction throughout its depth is critical to its performance. samples submitted to our laboratories can be tested to the ASTM C 642 and related back to documented Standard Test Method for Density, Absorption, and Voids.
Manchester building and Testing Laboratories can use chemical analysis to determine the mix proportions of the screed. This can be simply as and and cement content in a traditional screed or more complex analysis involving additives such as fibres or polymer modified screeds etc.
Sand and aggregate grading characteristics
We can visually inspect the screed to document and investigate issues or check conformity to the relevant British or European Standards. Hollowness or debonding of the screed can be tested by experienced personnel using a metal tapping rod, cracks and problem areas can be assessed and their implications can be determined.
Our on-site testing team also have a scientific background so all tests and samples are taken with good laboratory practice in mind (no cross contamination, correct sample size and relevant sample location). Written notes are taken throughout with locations, descriptions and references being clearly marked with strict reference to all relevant British or European Standards. If litigation is then considered at a later date the testing procedure will stand the scrutiny of the courts.
Laboratory analysis, Samples can be taken by our onsite testing team or sent directly to out laboratories.
